Staying up to date with newsweek
by jlhensell, Jan 09 '04
During the past six weeks, I have had the opportunity to
scan and sometimes thoroughly read the pages of the
newsweek magazine. This collection of current issues and
leisure activities into one comprehensive yet neatly
packed magazine is an essential tool for the savvy and
well-informed individual.
I'm also being completely honest when I say that reading
articles in the newsweek magazine has been sort of an
"assignment" for me since I began reading it for my
College Reading and Study Skills class. But, after
reading several articles on the current impending war
with Saddam Hussein and the horrible acts of terrorism
committed throughout the world, I decided that this
magazine is exactly what I wanted.

That's Fit to Read in the Can -- newsweek magazine
by kramerarch, Jan 08 '04
As a periodical providing me with
an encapsulated, kind of "Cliff Notes" view on the
weekly news, it excels. Much of the time I spend is
kneeling or bending down to live in the world of small
children. It is good to stand up and get a look of
what's happening above their heads. newsweek is a way
for me to stay-informed. |

Just about anyone (except I
suppose for way right-of-center people) should be
satisfied and even enjoy a subscription to newsweek
magazine. You
get a weekly dose of the latest news in our political,
national, international, and cultural worlds in a
package that’s both engaging and easy to read. |

The People Magazine of the Political World
by pear, Jan 06 '04
I read newsweek because the articles are interesting and
educational. I have learned so much and have been able
to keep up on important events and topics. I think it
has more variety than Time magazine but anyone who
enjoys reading about current events will like to read
Time/Life magazines as well.

4 out of 5: newsweek is
Newsworthy
by dbhoux, Dec 24 '04
My first introduction to newsweek
magazine was brief. I was waiting in the doctor's office
and had picked up a copy because I was interested in the
topic displayed on the cover story...after that? End of
story, right? Not quite. I was impressed at their
in-depth coverage and semi-conservative style of
reporting, as well as the myriad of topics which were
touched on each week. Categories in this magazine
include National Affairs, International, Business,
Science and Technology, Society, and Arts and
Entertainment. One of my personal favorites, is the "My
Turn" section of the magazine, where a freelance/guest
author incorporates their views on hot topics in the
media. The magazine isn't overflowing with what I would
consider excessive advertising, and keeps a nice balance
between the coverage and the commercialism. The reason
this periodical works so well for myself and my family
is the fact that we lead busy lives, and often times
don't get a chance to sit down in front of the
television to keep up with current events. The reporting
is done in a simplistic and straight-forward manner
which we all can appreciate. I think if you are looking
for a news-related magazine, this one can't be beat! |
